Fresh near-whites on which the first rays of the morning sun can paint their colors, a rich remembering of luscious woods from darker greys, and a few splashes of gold for a sense of timeless luxury — this stylish Naples home is where you want to spend your mornings.
Busby’s most recent kitchen design combines the contemporary and the classic, embellishing the open, airy feel of the home while grounding the gaze in strong tones & eye-catching accents. The array of not-quite-whites act as a soft clean canvas, complementing the other tones in the room without robbing the space of its warmth. Pale grey undertones pair intuitively with the strong contrast of charcoals, and the rest of the room plays off these primary shades.
The Busby cabinet design team wanted to stay away from a stark white color, and Busby’s proprietary kitchen cabinet colors, ‘Morning Dew’ and ‘Grey Goose’ do that beautifully. They’re much softer than white, and when they stand beside the soft neutral colors in the stone countertops, they offer a different palette from which the room can start to build. The Busby design team determined these anchor colors for the kitchen first, and then that same tonal philosophy was applied to the master en suite, other bathrooms, laundry room and throughout the rest of the house.
Dark grey allows a sense of sophistication, a space for elegance and understatement all to peacefully coexist. The subtle hues are complimented with the trail of soft gold accents — from the cabinet hardware, to the faucet, to the light fixtures and bar stools. Little gold touches are sprinkled around the rest of the home, bringing the whole design together with intention and mind-soothing continuity.
The charcoal cabinet color is picked up in the living room, reflected in the beams overhead. Floating shelves, artwork, and furniture selections wear the same shade. This cohesiveness in design is achieved through the close collaborative efforts between Busby and interior designers Clive Daniel and Jake & Co.
The master-bath remembers the kitchen colors closely while offering its own twist, like meeting the friend of a friend. Floating shelves are coated in the soft grey tone of Busby’s ‘Storm Cloud’. Standing adjacent to the ‘Cape Town’ khaki stone hue, the two come together to achieve depth and resonance. The result is a tangible sense of tranquility, and with the continuity of the gold fixtures – faucets, mirror edges, sconces, shower heads – you can feel the intention in each inch of every room in which you stand.
A full-service laundry room, equipped with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and ample counter top space repeat the elegant soft-white shade used for the tall hall bench in the welcoming drop-off station for purses and bags.
Through the rest of the home, you’ll find dark grey dressers, gold-lined mirrors and rugs that remember that same soft-white and grey color combination. The rooms build on one another like chapters of a good book you don’t want to finish. As an entrance point, a hosting space, and the room that gets the most natural light, the kitchen is the center point from which the home unfolds. The cabinet colors are the first to meet the eye, anchoring the intentions for the rest of the design. Amidst the confidence of deep-charcoal hues, the subtle hints of opulence, and an always open mind for the colors of the day — this is the way each morning arrives.
