Personal & Professional
“Every job is personal; you can never just copy what’s been done before.“
Dave Stanley loves being a design consultant and has been with Busby for over 25 years. His portfolio is overflowing with gorgeous living spaces meant to delight and surprise, with a range from inexpensive to the ultimate in lavish, luxury living.
“I love working with people to create something unique to them and their particular lifestyle. For me, each design has to be personal, meeting each one of my client’s needs. It also has to fit within the greater design of their whole house and how that house fits into the client’s life. Do they have kids? How much do they entertain? I need to find out the nuances of how they are going to live in the spaces I’m designing in order to make them perfect for them!”
“Custom Creativity”
“My job is really a lifestyle job, where I study how these spaces are going to fit into the client’s life. I cannot design these very personal spaces until I have an understanding of how they use their home and the individual spaces within. Because Busby designs are completely custom, our client’s luxury interiors are designed around an individual family life. This means there is no limit to what can be done.”
Dave’s work has been lauded over the years and he holds multiple Southeast Builder’s Conference Aurora Awards for his kitchen and bathroom designs.
“A Heritage of Possibilities”
Dave’s dad was a builder, and his mom was an artist. This means that even his childhood was steeped in an appreciation for craftsmanship, beauty and creative expression. He spent time early on in his career as a contractor, a framer and a draftsman, which gives him a unique perspective for his work as a Busby designer.
He knows what can and cannot be done (structurally). He can see the possibilities that others cannot see. He has been trained to look beyond what is currently there, to bring innovation and creativity to every project.
Beauty & Grace in Remodeling
Dave explains, “While many people dread the remodeling process, I think it’s fun to totally change what is there and to blow my clients minds with a range of possibilities. I provide my clients with lots of options. A Busby design is completely unique, so I bring a range of ideas to our client collaboration sessions.”
“Even if there or limitations due to the idiosyncrasies of a particular property, I always ask myself, ‘what would I do if I was designing this from scratch?’ I don’t feel constrained by what is currently there. If rotating a kitchen 90° will open up a spectacular view on the property, that’s what I’ll recommend.”
“By playing the ‘what if’ game, it allows me to think outside the box–outside the four walls of the space I’m designing.” This ensures completely unique design solutions that are innovative, tasteful and incredibly personal to each individual.
Dave is equally comfortable creating Transitional styled spaces as he is with Contemporary or Old World Elegance environments.
Dave has worked with world renowned designers that travel the world, and he can often be found creating idea books that reflect his years of experience creating custom living environments and his own study of how best to translate the latest trends in design style for his clients particular needs.
When he isn’t creating another stunning bathroom or discussing the design possibilities created by installing separate refrigerator and freezer columns or steam ovens, he can be found relaxing on his fishing boat or spending time with his wife and grandson.
